As powerful and destructive as they are, Hurricanes provide a release for the tremendous amount of heat energy that arrives from the sun daily. The heat energy (also known as thermal kinetic energy) is converted into another form: mechanical energy, which drives the high winds and keep those billions of gallons of water in the sky long enough until the updrafts can no longer support its weight. The water then comes splashing down upon us in the form of rain. Nature is, indeed, remarkable.
