What better way to show God that you enjoy wasting its most precious gift, life in a miasma of cruelty and gore?

In addition to justify the Crusades, witch trials and wars, this advanced theological is also the main justification for the age-old practice of human sacrifice.

Sacrifices are perhaps the oldest method to honor the gods, ascending to the oldest religions worship the ancestors of Egypt and Mesopotamia.

The initial theory was "everyone needs to eat, whose ancestor-gods. So many priests would dutifully sat leave food for the gods, who never eat real food.

It was embarrassing to have all sat around the food, if priests are set to burn possibly cutting or bleeding sacrifice, instead of simply ignoring the rot.

As time passed, the original theory to nourish the gods was forgotten and the practice became a ritual that was essentially meaningless for its participants (including the use of holy oil in a Christian baptism, just for example).

The sacrifices consisted primarily of food and meat, but the emphasis gradually shifted to the sacrifice of animals and the sacrifice of blood. Once you have exceeded the notion that you actually feed the gods, a hierarchy of animals into action, so a goat sacrifice is better than a chicken and a cow is better than a goat.

So what would be the bestest sacrifice of all? Eureka!

There is some controversy about when the practice of human sacrifice has really begun. Some argue for a prehistoric origin, but the proof of these statements have an unfortunate tendency to 10,000 years old bodies found in bogs in northern Europe, leaving room for a significant amount of interpretation.

There is a chance, even better than these bodies were the result of early performances or ritual killings, among all, he is a fine line indeed. Human sacrifice is more or less defined here as the ritual killing of a person to appease or to compel a God figure.

Scientists do not agree really know where to draw the lines, but the bloodthirsty bastards have a tendency to designate almost any old death a "human sacrifice" for no justifiable reason.

Almost every culture and region has a history of human sacrifice, since the Romans, Celts, Aztecs ... Hell, even the Dutch.

The ancient Greeks human sacrifice to the goddess Artemis, including the famous sacrifice by Agamemnon of his favored daughter. This story was later plagiarized likely by Jews as the story of Abraham is ordered by Yahweh to sacrifice his beloved son, Isaac. In the Hebrew version, however, the concert is all just a trick to see if Abraham would really go through. God has a good laugh at the expense of Abraham, and everyone lives happily ever after.

In the Middle East, the traditional human sacrifice is usually done with a blade, and the blood of sacrificed individuals were collected as part of the ritual. This approach has been positive human relation to some other cultures.

Methodology may vary considerably across geographical regions. In Northern Europe, victims were often overkilled, like Rasputin, dead, found stabbed in the back, strangled, soft head and finally drowned in a marsh. The Celts celebrated rumored to have burned victims to death with a giant wicker man, inspiring the 1973 thriller that name.

There was (and to some extent still are) many different traditions of human sacrifice practiced in Africa. A particularly gruesome form, known as "muti" killing, involves the dismemberment and decapitation, removal of vertebrae and / or genitals and the drainage of blood from the corpse. The overall effect of the practice is more or less to bring good fortune for the priest taking away from sacrificee. The deletions may still be dissected for specific uses.

Voudoun has often been associated with human sacrifice in the popular imagination, but incorrectly so. Santeria suffers from the same public relations problem, but we are not prepared to risk our lives on the unfairness of this charge (we are not willing to tempt fate by attempting infiltration in the interest of knowledge).

Various Hindu sects enjoyed a nice sacrifice from time to time, and some still do. The sacrifices were intended to honor the goddess Shakti, a mother figure who incongruously showed her motherly love, asking his supporters to the gut and bleed each other. The cult of Kali, should always be the sacrifice of virgins (male and female) by cutting off their hands, breasts and feet.

Anti-Semites frequently cite a libel which means that the blood of Gentile children is used to make unleavened bread. Anyone with bread-making experience will tell you that rapid blood clotting makes it pretty useless as an ingredient in baking, but the insults are repeated every few decades, however murmured. In Prague, the rumors were so pernicious a mystical warrior was deemed by the convening power of the magic of the Jewish ban once and for all. (This public relations campaign failed when the warrior instead launched a deadly attack.)

Human sacrifices in the Western Hemisphere continued much later than it did in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It is found hundreds of dead bodies of fishermen in Peru who were killed in the 14th century in the ancient equivalent of style enforcement - held on their knees and stabbed in the heart.

While these changes provide entertainment for the whole family is really the Incas and Aztecs of South America that has elevated the human sacrifice in the form of art that we all know and love today.

The Incas sacrificed women and children by using several different methods, but the Aztecs were the ones who really had a sense of style. So fuck that people drown-as-shit bog. The classic example of Aztec sacrifice is immortalized in the image of a priest wearing cut the beating heart of a safe living at the heart of a pyramid, the blood that shine in the tropical sun as he descended not the structure Massive stone-levels. The Mayans also used this method - perhaps to help their chances of predicting the timing Apocalypse - but they were also more common rituals in which priests do not bleed Deputy fatally over a sacred place.

Because the languages of the indigenous tribes of South America have mostly been lost, it is difficult to determine what they really thought about the justification for these sacrifices, but they seem to have some astronomical significance (like almost everything associated with scheme eventually will). Some researchers believe that the sacrifices were intended to ensure that the sun keeps coming back every morning. It is understandable that this would somehow be a priority, but absolutely not what logic was used to connect the entire cut-out-the-heart thing came flying at sunrise everything sunset.

Human sacrifice is still practiced around the world today, but more quietly than in the past. You have not heard much still beating hearts, but then the Incan and Mayans mysteriously disappeared there hundreds of years.

Shakti and Kali worship in India are still very vivid. Although they are usually performed by using false sacrifices of animals, or effigies made of flour or pumpkin, man sometimes still slip through the system.

In some of the more chaos and poverty-stricken regions of Africa, periodic outbreaks reveal a continuing problem of human sacrifice, too, especially in rural village in West Africa and areas devastated by the war in order that human life is always devalued.

Not that this is strictly an issue of the third world. Murders with accents of sacrifice or "muti" ritual paraphernalia pop up in places like London, New York, New Orleans and more often as you want.

Yeah, but since God wanted that to happen, why is everyone whining about Pontiac Pilate and his pals. They were just doing God's will, so as servants of God, they should be praised! Judas, too. He was just a part of God's plan! And why do Catholics hate the Jews? Again, they were just fulfilling God's wishes! Should be one big, happy family!
