Re: How Smart Are Birds
AWESOME post!! I've been a backyard birder for years now and they are such amazing creatures!! We live close to a walking trail, with tons of trees, a marsh and WOW, the variety of birds we get here, compared to a few blocks away, is amazing! It's so much fun to feed them and watch/listen to them. Kanda, you know my love of Starlings!! Until we rescued our Starlings, Burt and Ernie, I never realized just HOW intelligent they really are. These two have learned so much from observing & listening to us. I am home daily with them and constantly interacting with and talking with them. They say close to 50 words/phrases and I swear are smarter than some high school kids are these days! They talk non stop and even finish our sentences. Ernie even announces when she "poopies' LMFAO! I can't get enough of these two!! They have a You Tube and FB page....you can hear them talk or maybe even "like" their page!! (shameless plug!) You Tube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_q...view_as=public FB page http://www.facebook.com/2012StarlingRescue |

Re: How Smart Are Birds
i can personally testify that my two african greys, as well as my amazon and mini macaw are smarter than many on this site. lol i joke... kinda. But they are as smart as five year old children and in many ways behave like them too. |

Re: How Smart Are Birds
oops, forgot to mention i have a total of 7 parrots that "i care for". I say that in quotes because they actually boss me around more often than not. aside from my daughter, which should be obvious... i love my birds more than most people. :-D |

Re: How Smart Are Birds
A mockingbird and cardinal that came up on the back deck with me one spring. On Easter Mockingbirds are awesome. Have one that sings in the summer, at night in a tree outside my bedroom. They love us people and love fucking with the cats lol |
