Re: House of Hoarder Who Died Inside

That poor woman probably was so old and lonely. No family that cared enough. MY GOD... Just from the photographs of her, she was a very old lady. Poor woman didn't have a bed to die in! She had a clean camping chair. Makes me cry! ...

What struck me was the way her niece was speaking. That she called her up and told her to tell her where everything of value was. How to access it. Then she's saying how 'disgusting' it is, and she didn't need to be there, but the previous say she'd found things 'pertaining to her family.'

I honestly wanted to punch her face in. I kept saying 'that poor woman.' What she must have gone through in her sick, lonely days, months... years...?

She DIED in the ONLY CLEAN piece if furniture she had. A fuckin camping chair!!

That poor old lady.

The DISGUSTING niece of hers will probably moan about it until she's sifted through everything, knocked on walls, searching for cavities, and searched the attic for the 'GOLD' and then when she's finished, won't even give her a decent burial and headstone.

Those cob webs have been there for donkeys years and she's complaining about not knowing where anything is, and how DISGUSTED she is!!? No wonder 'ole Granny didn't invite her around.

With family like that, you don't need enemies!

RIP dear old lady. Have fun haunting that stupid niece of yours!

She's a piece of SHIT!

Re: House of Hoarder Who Died Inside

the look of that mattress alone gave me the creeps but i always found hoarders fascinating as i actually know one but she has it mild, collecting stuff, hardly using it but not dirty like this woman.
I am also curious about them as my Aunt is one. She is completely delusional and doesn’t seem to mind it. I’ve never been allowed inside but I can tell from her smell, the piles of shit I can see stacked in all windows, and the fact she owns 2 dogs but never walks them- that her home is a Fucken nightmare. She’s elderly and has a ton of health problems. I constantly worry this exact thing will happen as she now lives alone. She has the whole backstory like most too- traumatized by the death of her only child, and her husband passed shortly after. It’s so sad. She literally has her bed from her childhood still- and claims she sleeps on it. I just picture the above mattress.
Yes I resurrected this thread. Was searching for this situation to prepare myself.

I don’t know these people but have a hoarder in my family. We talk daily as she is elderly and alone. She sleeps over once a week and enjoys her home. We are not allowed inside and she sleeps in her childhood bed (her words). Her car alone is a rolling nightmare of trash and I’ve cleaned it more times than I can count. She has a disorder that she doesn’t feel comfortable without the mess. I can’t change that and she refuses professional help. These type of people aren’t usually aware they are miserable It’s sad all around.

Re: House of Hoarder Who Died Inside

I saw a van hoarder once. She was elderly and driving a van that was packed so tight up to the driver’s side I expected it to explode.

I’m also suspicious some antique flea markets are simply hoarders who’ve found a way to justify the hoarding. We went to one. It was semi organized but obviously a hoard. She had her crap priced so high it’d never sell.

When I was 18 up until age 21 I worked for a junk removal company and cleaned hoarder houses like this all the time.

Re: House of Hoarder Who Died Inside

Anyone have the address of this home? I'd like to visit it when I get back to Detroit again.

Re: House of Hoarder Who Died Inside

Google map the Ivanhoe Cafe. You can see the decimation of the neighborhoods in the area. When I was in Detroit in 2003 for Ford's 100th Anniversary, I drove all over, going to see the houses of the early auto manufacturers, such as Ford, Chevrolet, the Dodges, etc. Until they made it big, they lived in regular houses, and most of them still exist. They had a map with 80 or 100 addresses on it, with all the houses listed, and I visited most of them. Detroit was like in the movie "Don't Breathe" about the blind vet who had a woman captive in his basement, and every house around him for a mile was just vacant. Huge areas had no one living in them. They were just starting to try and clean them up, tearing down a block of houses at a time. If you look at the area around the Ivanhoe Cafe, you can see this effort has had an effect. Most of the empty houses are gone, and there are square blocks that have nothing standing on them at all. Just flat, with grass growing. Then there will be 2 or 3 houses still standing, I suppose because people still live in those houses. They are talking about redrawing the city boundaries of Detroit, bringing them in smaller, and shrinking the actual city. The areas outside the city will just be a network of streets and grass, no buildings or anything else. Even the churches, post offices, fire and police stations, are all being removed. Just a flat plain of empty roads, going nowhere.
