The Homeless. The Hopeless. Drugs, Hookers, and Children in St. Petersburg, Russia
Here are some pictures. Not of death, but not of life either. Russia claims that officially there are about 700k homeless children, however NGO's place the figure between 2 to 4 million. Some factors that contribute to this dilemma are: family breakdown poverty famine physical and sexual abuse exploitation by adults dislocation through migration urbanization and overcrowding acculturation disinheritance or being disowned The orphaning of children as a result of HIV/AIDS is another cause that might be added to this list also. Hope is nothing but a myth to these who live but don't have life. tl;dr: Nothing to see here. Go back to saying how hard your life is. |

If the Soviet Union were to still exist. This wouldn't be happening. However, America is not very different.

The photos are not from a documentary, just ones I've procured from time to time. I just find it sad that people I know can bitch and whine about how hard they have it, when they do not have the first clue about what being desperate is. |

Seeing all the kids is really tragic...seeing the "grown ups" is almost more tragic since they didn't change their lifes...doesnt even look like they even tried

Great post! I've been following a very good English Russian site for a while now.
