Home of the Mentally Damned -

On one of my many travels about southern England before last year i was introduced to
this particular place.

Opened in 1923 and fully clossed in the late 90's.

A then friend of mine took me here, and yep you guessed it, its an asylum, THE asylum.

(I can hear the yawns lol)

Although the images below are illuminated it was pitch black when i went, the light is just the camera flash which you all would have guessed.

Anyhow, after being shown a certain piece of footage before hand it was discussed that i should see if there was more to this place than just a
run down hospital and to add some confirmation to a fellow documenters findings.

The place is now demolished as of 6 months after visiting so I've been told, so that's the end of that. But after visiting the place it left a dark patch
on my soul.

There was much trauma here and heartache, as you would expect from a place that locked up people who were, lets say, not very good at socializing with the general public, if you stood still enough in the dark filled corridors you could not only feel, but still hear the screaming coming from within the rooms that are littered throughout the asylum.

One section was kept for children who were born within the asylum or some were dumped there whilst parents were sectioned and treated etc.

Anyway, enough jubber jabber.

Enjoy these few snippets from me.

I presume you speaking poetically with this? I enjoy poking around abandoned places, myself, but I never "feel" such things. Whether it was a mental hospital or a burger joint, if we are urbexing there, it is now just an empty building.
Nice set of pictures, btw, especially if you were composing the shots in the dark.

Re: Home of the Mentally Damned -

Nice post

the blue sign seems a little overdone. wouldnt it have been easier for them to have it say "Brodie Ward to the left and everything else, thata way" ?
