Larger single death-toll I guess, plus a theory of mine is that the anti-semitic killings were completely apart from the execution of warfare: what happened in Poland and the Soviet Union is a straightforward case of hideous oppression of an occupied populace. Systematically extracting Jews from a native population for that very purpose was (and is) the significant factor in, I think, why the Jewish death-toll is emphasised above the other atrocities.

Well it is true. The Germans wiped out huge numbers of Gypsies and the mentally ill as well as many other "east" races they felt were inferior. The Russians were considered unworthy of life because Hitler considered them a lower class race. Stalin did a good job of killing off his intelligensia and others among the 10 or more millions he killed and Hitler added possibly 6 million Jews and others all in.
