Re: Holden Commodore W427
Dodge fucked up their full size trucks this model year by making the rear suspension independent instead of live axle. It's great for handling but poor for utility. Nissan was in talks with Chrysler about them making the next generation Titan and Nissan would help Chrysler with their small car program. That went down the tubes because Chrysler is a poor bed partner, Carlos Ghosn (head of Nissan/Renault) is not a stupid man and Nissan really had nothing to gain by that alliance. Fiat's recent partnership is different. They're far from stupid as well and always engineer a good exit strategy. They used to be be partnered with GM and had a lucrative severance package written into the partnership. GM decided Fiat was a losing enterprise and dumped them in... 2003 or 2002 or so... they had to pay out a hefty sum to get out of that. Fiat has since turned around and become quite a profitable company. With their partnership with Chrysler that stand to gain established factories, workforce, and dealership network. I just wish Peugeot and Citroen would come back to the U.S., they make some sweet looking cars. |

Re: Holden Commodore W427
yer IFS AND IRS sucks, thats why most people that are avid offroaders do a SAS on them, big coilovers etc, over here theirs no such thing as IRS in work utes, except holden utes, its all leaf sprung rear. There also all weak 4 cyclinder turbo utes or straight 6 cylinder motors, nothing impressive like what you's have. ive done massive amount of suspension work on my 4x4 to make suspension articulate better offroad, and it works. just totally illegal on road now. |

Re: Holden Commodore W427
yer, toyota had an awesome landcruiser called the "100 series" landcruiser, that was coil sprung solid axle F+R, it worked well offroad, then right up until '05 i think it was they changed it into IFS and solid axle rear. MEGA FAIL, you know why? they had a massive recall because part of the IFS control arm had a weak weld thatwould crack lol, but whats so gay is , they started bringing out 4.2ltr turbo diesels and newer ones had a V8 put in them, but all had IFS , imagine having the power of one of those motors in a solid axle F+R landcruiser, it'd be awesome offroad, their mainly used by rich people towing their big boats and rich milfy soccer mums.

Re: Holden Commodore W427
Most modern SUV's are about as useful offroad as tits on a hog. Land Rover being one of the exceptions really... until you get the the sport one's with retard big 22 inch rims... honestly, I think 20" wheels on an SUV are about the dumbest thing since 20" wheels on an SUV. I don't really care for 20" rims on anything though, mostly tossers do that shit.
