A monster designed by H.R. Giger starred in a 1985 Japanese commercial for the Zone home entertainment system by Pioneer. The biomechanical beast — which was also featured in a series of print ads that ran at the same time — appears to be based on illustrations Giger made for underground filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky’s screen adaptation of “Dune,” which never made it to production.

I really enjoyed reading Frank Herberts Dune even through the latter books when they strayed a little too far from what I enjoyed about them in the beginning.

It's really interesting to see the concept art, and also to compare the way that they advertise products there. It's safe to assume that an advertisement like that would not run in North America anywhere.

never read the books or never saw the movie, used to play Dune 2 but that was vastly different from Dune 1... was more a precursor to the command and conquer games.

I know what you're talking about. I wouldn't suggest going out and picking up the dune books all at once. But grabbing the first one is a good idea, as it's really a groundbreaking book and has a lot of interesting ideas and thoughts in it, as well as some ridiculous technology and nuclear nonsense.

You could also rent the movie, although be warned. There is a performance by Sting that is pretty over the top. It's also directed by David Lynch so you know it's going to be an interesting film.

I've wanted to watch the movie before, but when ever it's been on TV i haven't been in the right mood, maybe i should just find a torrent for it
