Gustave The Crocodile
Gustave is a large 30 foot male nile crocodile from Burundi, Africa. Gustave is notorious for being a man-eater, locals have described how hes eaten fisherman by fisherman and swimmer by swimmer. It is rumored that Gustave has killed as many as 300 people from the banks of the Ruzizi river to the shores of lake tanganyika. He weighs up to 900 kg (2,000 pounds). One fisherman claimed that he estimated him to be 10 feet longer than believed. Gustave has achieved near-mythical status. According to local warning, he would sometimes kill fisherman and swimmers and leave their corpses uneaten. Pierre Buyoya, ex-president of Burundi was nicknamed "Gustave" because of his ruthless behavior in office, a witch in Burundi claimed that he could shapeshift into gustave and that he was the crocodile himself and others believed he could control the crocodile, sending him to destroy people's enemies for a fee. He is greatly feared throughout the region he resides in. There have been various reports of Gustave being seen, one time in 2009 by a fisherman, who was startled to see the crocodile, then in 2015 when he was seen dragging a water buffalo into the water. Since Gustave has never been captured, his exact weight, length and age are unknown, but is it rumored that he could be close to 100 years old. In 2019, travel africa magazine stated that gustave had been killed, but Gustave could still be out there lurking the waters today, doing well, alive and still growing. |
