Grafton, Utah Ghost Town

This ghost town is actually pretty well maintained, it's a very popular stop due to it's proximity to Zion National Park. The natural beauty of the area was a plus.

"Grafton was first settled in 1859 one mile below its present town site. In January of 1862 the town was completely washed away by a flood. The people rebuilt the town a mile further up stream at its present site. By 1864 about 28 families lived here. There were many log houses, a post office, church, school and community hall. The town was deserted in 1866 due to Indian attacks. The people moved back in 1868. By 1920 only 3 families still lived here. Grafton has had parts of several movies shot here. One movie that was partly shot here was Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. "

Great cemetary pics! I am a little disappointed it is maintained lol I know that sounds odd but they get spookier when they are ran down, the possiblility of finding something amazing seems to be greater. :) Thanks for the pics!!

Me too! Didn't seem to be very much of a ghost town with placards & stuff.

I tried to get as many interior shots as I could, but only one house was open

I liked the Indian names on the graves and the tombstone that listed four killed by Indians

Great set Zambini. Looks more touristy than ghostly. A great insight into the past.

AWESOME photos!! What a beautiful view! People in that town didn't live long huh. I wonder if PUSS was a person or a pet

I think puss was an Indian, see the top left of the wood says "Ind."?

It is a beautiful view, I can definitely see the attraction of settling there

That wooden headstone that says wood isn't a headstone it's a piece of wood for wood that says wood cause it's wood.
