This link has the most comprehensive collection of before, during, and after ruin pictures of Detroit. I highly recommend exploring this site. When you click through building after building, I think you really appreciate the impact of this city's decay.

What's even more startling is driving through the place. You have to remember that a lot of these so-called "ruins" (it feels strange saying that about modern buildings) were occupied up until recently. The train depot (my own snapshots included here, sorry for quality) closed in 1988, but it looks like it's been decaying for one hundred years. Seeing how a formerly-glamorous avenue or neighborhood could look like it does today in a quarter of a lifetime reveals how tenuous our control is and how fickle and feeble we are.

Man, I ve must of spent about a good hour or so looking through countless pictures on that link you posted there. I don't know, but there is something very interesting and intriguing about abandoned buildings.. These ruins are basically frozen in time...everything from the outside world is constantly changing while the contents of these ruins remain frozen so to speak. Nice post and keep em coming!!!
