Feel a Phantom Limb

Phantom sensations are described as perceptions that an individual experiences relating to a limb or an organ that is not physically part of the body. Sensations are recorded most frequently following the amputation of an arm or a leg, but may also occur following the removal of a breast or an internal organ.

I've heard that there are some very effective treatments for FLS out now, your DR hasn't brought them up? or have you tried them to no avail..

I have been using qa drug called Savella, which is the only thing that has ever worked, but it just has too many side effects. It doesn't sound like much, but the phantom sensations can just about drive you crazy after awhile.

Re: Feel a Phantom Limb

Phantom limb is a weird thing. All amputees can "feel" their missing limb. I can curl my toes and move my foot back and forth. It's especially vivid when I'm wearing my prosthesis. But the pain is another thing altogether.

People always ask how I lost my leg, so I'll tell you in case anyone is interested. I had Ewing's sarcoma when I was seventeen. I had a tumor on my fibula. I lost a leg, but I beat Ewing's, which wasn't easy in 1974.
