Fatberg Extruding Around a Manhole Cover on Wet Asphalt
A round manhole cover sits atop a mound of congealed yellow-brown fat, grease and debris that has extruded through the frame onto wet asphalt. Such masses are known as fatbergs. They form in sewer systems when discarded fats and oils combine with wipes, sanitary products and other materials that do not readily break down.
