Fallstreak Photographer Over Birstwith, England (September 2012)
This photo of a fallstreak was taken in Birstwith by Kaya Oldaker on 22nd September. Kaya tells us it was seen from Harrogate and Ripon, too. Fallstreak holes were formed when part of the cloud becomes cold enough for the water droplets to freeze into ice crystals, which then grow until they become heavy enough to fall from the cloud – creating the streak.
