Re: F-111
My brother serviced these plains in Clovis, NM right to the time of their retirement. I had the experience of seeing his F111s and some old A-7 Corsairs conduct target shooting with their 20 MM Vulcan Cannon out in the desert in 1991 or so. Fastest gun I've ever heard!

Re: F-111
Would have been nice to see a live fire demonstration. The best i got to see were high speed low flying formations, dump and burns, and vertical climbs. Loudest thing i'd ever heard, the sound waves vibrated my whole body and made the inside of my ears itch. First time i saw it was at the 1988 airshow at Richmond RAAF base in north west Sydney. I'll never forget it, that was the day i fell in love with these aircraft.

Re: F-111
Well the F-111 entered service 38 years before the F-22 did and - is faster, has longer range, much larger combat radius, can carry a much heavier ground attack ordnance package, is capable of carrying more air to air missiles (RAAF F-111C variant), and in my opinion does all this with far more class.
