doing the bat stroke. A young bat was rescued from a swimming pool in Queensland after getting trapped while trying to get a drink. The bat, a two-month-old, was observed swimming laps in the pool before being rescued by a member of Townsville Bat Rescue. The rescue occurred at a resort pool in Townsville City, with the bat seemingly mistaking the pool for a natural water source. The bat, likely a black flying fox, was rescued by Catherine Murphy, the president of Townsville Bat Rescue, after it swam towards her for help. She noted that the pool was close to a bat colony and that young bats often get into trouble trying to drink from pools or other water sources. The bat was taken to the rescue organization, where it was assessed for water in its lungs and is now in a release colony with other bats. that shows that even wild animals do not fear humans when it comes to wanting to be rescued. |

If you’re ever in the city of Portland, Oregon, literally anywhere, you are never more than 50 feet away from a bat. I’ve had several sightings where I live. They’re always really cool to see. It takes a trained eye to see them. Mostly it’s like a wisp in the dark. Bats are cool!!  |

I'm along side of the Rogue River, on a mountain in the forest. And as soon as the sun goes down we are literally swarmed with bats. We have two albino bats this year. It's crazy - they're literally bright white.. we had an albino bat a few years ago, but not since then. These two guys look like twins. I've tried to get pictures before but it always just looks like a white streak. |
