Drasius Kedys - Lithuanian Killer of His Daughter's Pedophiles
Drasius Kedys, who killed a woman and a high profile judge in Lithuania because he thought they molested his four year old daughter, is believed to have fled the country, according to Regnum news agency. Lithuanian investigators say he obtained a Russian visa before the murders, and may be hiding in the neighboring country. Despite being a double murder suspect, Drasius Kedys has become a national hero. Read more On October 5, Jonas Furmanavicus, a senior judge in Lithuania's second city of Kaunas got out of his car at what seemed to be the scene of a traffic accident near his home. It was a trap – he was immediately gunned down. Two hours later, Violette Narusevecieni, Drasius Kedys' sister-in-law was shot with a Berretta registered in his name. There is only one suspect – Drasius Kedys. Some people are calling him a hero, others just a vicious vigilante. Kedys posted a video on the internet where his four-year-old daughter describes how she was allegedly forced to perform a sex act on Judge Furmanavicus and two of his associates. He sent the footage to every high-ranking official and media outlet in Lithuania. Kedys claimed the girl's mother, separated from him, and his sister-in-law were regularly soliciting his daughter to a gang of pedophiles holding top rank jobs. Despite Kedys spending a year trying to bring the case to court, no charges were filed. “The authorities should have done something to avoid driving a man to this mental state,” says one man. One woman added: “The murder was the only thing he could have done to protect his girl.” Websites have sprung up, accusing the authorities of incompetence and cover-ups and anti-pedophile rallies have been held throughout the country. Vladas Gaidys, sociologist, says: “The outsider hero doling out his own justice is a staple of many action films, and that's what appealed to ordinary, blue-collar Lithuanians. He is like Rambo.” Drasius Kedys, however, is a complex character. His mental health has been questioned by psychologists. Court officials suspected that he may have used the pedophile accusations in an attempt to gain custody of his daughter. Kedys has also been linked with Kaunas – powerful mafia clans who police say may have used him as a pawn – stoking his paranoia to get him to remove an unfavorable judge. “Kedys sets a very bad example for our society. Of course, there is a degree of distrust towards official institutions, but they are the ones in charge of justice, and we must educate society to trust them more,” said Stasys Sedbaras, chairman of Seimas Committee on Legal Affairs. The manhunt for Drasius Kedys continues. ***** The folk hero Drasius Kedys, who allegedly shot two people in Kaunas and has been on the run since then (5 October), was found dead some 30 km from Kaunas on 18 April. Media reports that his relatives have identified the body. The Acting General Prosecutor Raimondas Petrauskas said to LNK TV news that the body found could be that of Drasius Kedys, but he gave 90% certainty. The story that shook and stirred all Lithuania was one of the most followed events since the crime was committed at the beginning of October 2009. Drasius Kedys allegedly shot Kaunas judge Jonas Furmanavicius and a few hours later 29 year old Violeta Naruseviciene was found dead in her home. Media immediately spotted a link between the killings and Drasius Kedys. Mr. Kedys had accused the judge and a few other man of sexually molesting his little daughter. He also accused Violeta Naruseviciene, sister of his former girlfriend, of cooperating with those men. In August 2009 delfi.lt news portal reported that Kedys had sent out almost 200 letters with DVD discs containing his daughter’s story about what three men had done to her. The men accused of pedophilia and child molesting included Furmanavicius and Andrius Usas. Among recipients of the letters were about a dozen parliamentarians, Lithuanian members of the European Parliament, all political parties, the media and other officials. The English-language letter and the girl’s story with subtitles was also sent to Members of the European Parliament. Officially, Drasius Kedys was still on the run. Lithuanian police had issued his international arrest warrant. At first, media reported that he might be hiding in Russia, then Britain and recently the Spanish police announced his search in their country. The case is still pending since the main suspect could not be questioned. The popular support for the father that was fighting against an alleged institutionalised paedophile ring grew enormously. Drasius Kedys’ popularity was equal only to that of mega-popular Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite. The popular support converted itself into accusations that the Prosecutors Office was ‘on the side of paedophiles’. Groups of hundreds of people demonstrated in the front of Prosecutors’ Offices in various Lithuanian cities. It is thought that one of the main reasons behind the General Prosecutor Valentinas’ resignation was the Kedys case. The Children’s Rights Protection Ombudsmen Salaseviciute was also asked to leave her post mainly because of the people’s anger towards her. The Acting General Prosecutor Raimondas Petrauskas said to the LNK that the final report about the body should be ready sometime on 22 April. It is very unlikely that this story will come to some kind of conclusion. Last vid is not in english. Really interesting story, I doubt that we'll ever learn the true facts. But in my opinion there must have been something going on if there wasn't even a minor investigation into this. I agree with what one of the citizens said that they drove him to this mental state. Great post, nice info. |

Re: Drasius Kedys - Lithuanian Killer of His Daughter's Pedophiles
You know this allegation of "questionable Mental state" is a common one and easy to make. My daughter is dead from suicide. When my wife gained custody of my daughter I was very distraught. It was very difficult to maintain a job and care for my daughter and with a series of tricks she gained custody. In the end I was just mentally devastated and heartbroken. My ex moved to the east coast and I had no more contact for five years. When I regained contact my daughter was a much different person. By the time she was 17 she was a bit delusional and distraught. I tried once again to give her a way out of her situation but her mom found out and hell began. When the ugly phone calls began and the campaign once more ignited to turn all my relatives against me I began to get many calls from my relatives complaining I was interfering in a disapline problem. I backed off to think things over. Meanwhile my ex used this to show my daughter that I really didn't care about her after all. The next day she hung herself. So I think this guy fought back and now it seems he has been murdered. Since they don't say he committed suicide. Seems lithuania is also an ugly perverted place to raise a daughter.

Re: Drasius Kedys - Lithuanian Killer of His Daughter's Pedophiles
BTW I forgot to mention that after my daughters death... yes after her death... her friends wrote me to complain that she had been in an incestous relationship with her step father since the age of 10. And even though I contacted 7 attorneys not one would touch the case. Well to be honest they happily agreed to take the case after they got my personal information and details of my daughter. But when I mentioned my ex wifes new name and the name of my daughters stepfather they would tell me right off that it was a conflict of interest. Shortly after that I was arrested on trumped up weapons charges which were later dropped as there was no evidence. Turns out the charges came from the step fathers home town where I had not been for years. Seems he moved to the east coast but kept his contacts here in California.

Re: Drasius Kedys - Lithuanian Killer of His Daughter's Pedophiles
I personally wanted to say I'm sorry. I lost custody of my daughter for almost a year (Ive since got full custody because of her mothers drug addiction), I had a mental breakdown, for several reasons. One of them was I was being harassed by a private investigator hired by my in-laws hoping to be able to find info that would cause family court to remove custody from me. The other one was nightmares of what could have been happening to her, I would only sleep for literally one or two hours a night before I woke up with nightmares about what could have been happening to my little-girl. What happened with your daughter is sincerely one of the worst things I could ever imagine, and I'm sorry for your loss. Do you know which state this man moved to?
