Dramatic Photo Thread
Kevin Carter’s Pulitzer Prize winning photo taken in 1994 during the Sudan famine. The picture depicts a fine stricken child being stalked by a vulture. The child is craling towards a United Nations food camp, located a kilometer away. No One knows what happened to the child, including the photographer who left the scene as soon as the photo was taken. He later confided to friends that he wished he had intervened. Journalists at the time were warned never to touch famine victims for fear of disease. Three months later, and only weeks after being bestowed with the Pulitzer Prize, Kevin Carter committed suicide.  ·

Mid-air collision of aerobatic planes A pilot from the National Aero Club of Ireland bails out of his aerobatic plane after a mid-air collision between two planes during the Aero Grand Prix of Malta off Valletta's Marsamxett Harbour September 10, 2006. Swedish aerobatics champion pilot Gabor Varga was killed on Sunday when his stunt plane collided with another aircraft during a race in Malta, organisers said.
