Every time I drive into Boston I look at the blue stripe. It was painted in 1971 by Corita Kent, anti-war nun. She supposedly put Ho Chi Minh's profile on the tank as a anti-war protest. The original rainbow-painted LNG tank was torn down and the mural was recreated on the adjacent tank despite objections from veterans groups but the blue stripe was less pronounced. |
