$1 for every bottle of Dawn soap goes to wildlife cleanup from oil spills. Right now that's never been so important. We normally laugh at people on this site who have their heads missing and such, but this oil spill has and will be killing a lot of wildlife. Buy some Dawn the next time you go to the store, even if you don't really need it. I, myself, am outraged it took them so long to stop the oil leak. I don't like when the price of gas goes up, but I can't help but feel this oil company should be fined millions, if not billions of dollars for 1) using faulty backup equipment and valves and 2) no contingency plan for the failure of said devices. With today's technology, I don't find the slightest excuse for what's happened. |

I work on a ship in the Gulf of Mexico, and we have a note sent out to us from the Coastguard, instructions on what to do if we see or find a sea bird covered in oil: we have to document where it is, what it is, the state it is in, then we have to put it safely in a cardboard box, call the Coastguard, and they will send a helicopter out to collect it.  I shit thee not, it is genuine! |

Fuck BP, horrible mess they could have prevented, and after the fact have done little to take responsibility. They are now facing criminal charges, so hopefully some of those BP dick-bags will get raped in jail and get a messy spill in their ass (but I would be surprised if any of them did time for this.)

Thank you for that information. there will be at the very least, another two months of the well spewing oil from the wellhead before hopefully the releif wells being drilled will stop it.
