A curious bear made an appearance in the village of Topolevo, just outside Khabarovsk Krai, russia for about an hour. It roamed the streets, startled a local resident who hid under a heat exchanger, and then headed towards the city.

Authorities from the regional Forestry Department and wildlife specialists have been deployed to track the bear's scent. Local police and forestry workers are patrolling the area to prevent further close-quarters encounters with the public.

Wildlife experts note that while Khabarovsk Krai is home to a massive population of brown and Asiatic black bears, encounters in tight suburban zones usually occur when predators are displaced or searching for easy food sources.

By climbing a vertical structure, he removed himself from a ground-sprint chase, which humans will always lose since bears can run up to 50 km/h.

Instead of playing dead, which you should only do if a bear actually makes physical contact, he stood his ground high up, made himself look larger and screamed aggressively. This startled the bear breaking its hunting focus and causing it to retreat.
