Spanish police arrested a Panamanian woman at Barcelona-El Prat Airport after finding cocaine paste concealed inside her breast implants. She had arrived on a flight from Bogotá, Colombia, and was detained after a female officer conducting a pat-down noticed blood-stained gauze beneath her breasts.

The woman said she had recently undergone breast implant surgery. Police took her to a hospital, where doctors removed both implants and found them filled with cocaine paste. Spain's Interior Ministry said the cocaine weighed about 1.38 kilograms in total. The arrest was announced on December 12, 2012. An official police photograph showed the two removed, deflated implant sacs on a table beside Spanish National Police and Interior Ministry markings. Authorities did not release the woman's name.
