Re: Child Abuse Video From Car Wash

That is deplorable behavior by any standards. How fucking dare that woman call herself a "mother" after pulling that shit. If she's willing to do THAT in a hugely public place, imagine what she's capable of in the privacy of her own home. *shudder*

I'm appalled and heartbroken for that child - I know how much therapy is needed after that sort of abuse and that poor kid's got an entire life full of fear, rage and pain to face now.

Re: Child Abuse Video From Car Wash

I am going to go against the grain here. It seemed apparent to me that the hose was by no means on full blast. If it had been that little girl would have been blasted against the wall.

I do not condone child abuse at all. But on the other hand, I don't condone kids being able to get away with whatever they want, when they want.
That looked to me, at worst, like she was spraying the child with a hose, (the equivalent pressure I mean). No obvious harm was done other than the child got a soaking.

That was not bodily or mental abuse. It was a 'cool down, I AM THE BOSS' type of discipline.
Yeah haters will hate me. But that's what I think, based on what I saw.

What was the woman supposed to do if the child was throwing a tantrum? Give her a cuddle? Give her some candy/sweets? Put her on a naughty step?
We weren't there, we don't know what the whole story was. Although I wouldn't have chosen to do that to my child, I don't think she deserves to be charged with abuse.
We have gone too softly softly. There has to be a happy medium.
I will stand back and wait to get flamed now. But I still think that sometimes children do need discipline and as long as it isn't causing bodily harm, mental harm or it's what any sane person can see isn't beyond reprimanding then I think we do need to get tougher with kids. Otherwise, twenty years from now we will have a generation of spoiled, selfish, misbehaving brats who are now adults and running the country.
That's ok at 2 and a half??? I might have agreed if the kid was school age but that is so young for this sort of discipline IMHO

Re: Child Abuse Video From Car Wash

Some mothers, when they are totally stressed out, make bad choices. This was a perfect example!
But they stripped her off and wrapped a towel around her. Smacks of premeditation to me, no mention of them actually washing a car!

Fucking disturbing..those pressure washers have warnings on them that they can "Inject water due to high-pressure" into the skin and prove fatal...
That just really pissed me off.. kid should respect you? Why don't you respect your child! what a cunt..

Re: Child Abuse Video From Car Wash

But she was 2 and a half, just a baby . It doesn't matter if the hose wasn't on full blast, it was still an awful thing to do! I have a 7 year old daughter, and my God, some days I want to throw myself out the window, but I will never physically abuse her, no matter how mouthy she gets with me.
When my daughter was two she had some terrible tantrums and one time I put her in the shower and sprayed her with cold water to shock her and shut her up.

The sudden look of shock and hurt and betrayal on her face as she cried "daddy, please, no" makes me feel guilty and sad even now, some ten years later.

It wasn't a pressure washer, it wasn't ice cold, it didn't hurt her, it wasn't in public, she wasn't naked, it didn't last longer than two seconds, but I still feel like a total asshole for doing it.

Re: Child Abuse Video From Car Wash

Why does almost every female case of child abuse get swept under the rug on some mental illness/postpartum excuse?
