Interesting. I fast-forwarded through the chatter to the death scenes. Also, at the end, the cremation --> interment process was interesting. For unclaimed bodies, they should just dump the ashes in bulk in 55-gal drums and landfill them when they get full. Much more cost effective than handling/storing the ashes individually and burying the ashes in bulk in a graveyard.

I believe they stored them in the event someone comes along to claim the decedent. I would hate to find out a loved one was just dumped in the landfill. The landfills are full enough.

Yes, I understand the purpose and sediment that drives that process. On the other hand, the whole time I watched that vid, I couldn't help but think of the tax $ spent on the bureaucracies that tend to abandoned dead. People simply need to plan for death for the good of their loved ones, and if they are too dense or do not care, then tax payers should not be compelled to foot the bill.

Those ashes are being landfilled now in cemeteries, much more valuable ground than where the landfills are. Due to the void space in solid waste, putting these ashes in landfills would make no difference at all to the landfill capacity.
