Brazilian student Catarina Migliorini, 20, received a winning bid of $780,000 in an online auction that ended October 24, 2012. The auction was organized through "Virgins Wanted," a documentary project by Australian filmmaker Justin Sisely. The winning bidder was identified only as "Natsu," a man from Japan. Migliorini said she intended to use the money to fund housing for poor families in her hometown.

By November 2013, Migliorini said the deal had fallen through. She said no sexual encounter occurred and that she was never paid. Sisely disputed her account and said she had breached her contract. Migliorini subsequently launched a second auction of her own, but no outcome was reported at the time. A coastal fashion shoot shows her posing on a beach, stone steps and rocky shoreline in several outfits, including a white shirt, a red tunic and an open patterned vest.
