Huge galactic events really bewilder me

Same here. I can't help but wonder what if our solar system ever got pulled into one of those. What would happen? Of course a popular theory is that we'd be pulled into an alternate universe where everything is opposite. That's if we'd even live to experience it. Strange universe.
Great picture though. I wonder if that's what it actually looked like or if the colors are added or modified in anyway.
