The Bird Eating Spider
I have a massive fear of spiders and i am trying to overcome it. While looking through things on the internet i came across these bird eating spiders, great pics i thought i would share. Bird-eating spiders are the largest spiders found in Australia. These primitive spiders are native to northern and inland Australia. They excavate long burrows from which they emerge at night to ambush prey which includes spiders, insects, frogs, lizards and sometimes small birds. Specimens are sometimes collected from the wild and sold as pets in suburban pet shops, increasing the likelihood of bites by these large arachnids. Reported symptoms includes nausea, vomiting, sweating and general malaise. No deaths have been recorded. There is no antivenom available.  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  · |

#4 from the bottom up...camel spider, nasty buggers those are. Spiders are armless, it's the one's with legs you gotta worry about  I pulled a live huntsman out of my hand bag after reaching in for my keys once *shudders* and just two days ago I picked up a red back by mistake....I can still feel it in my hand. |

Unfortunately, chances are you'll never completely get over the fear of spiders. The name of the condition is called arachnophobia (morbid fear of spiders and many other eight-legged critters). You can condition yourself to accepting and perhaps even touching spiders, but you'll never completely get over it. Phobias usually develop between the ages of 5 and 10 years. Now you see why it's so difficult to cure. At such a young age, your brain becomes "wired" to the phobic state while the brain is still growing. By the age of 14, the brain stops growing, hence, more difficult to "unwire." |
