Beelitz Heilstätten (Sanitarium)
I found out about this place via a photography group on FB which linked me to http://www.forbidden-places.net/explo1.php . I live in Germany so I looked for places here. This looked the most interesting (and accessible, hehe) so one day last December I drove out to this place which is kinda close to Berlin (about a 4 hr drive for me) to get some pics. Thanks deadcat1! Drewie, it most certainly was. The only thing I regret was not going early enough because I lost ambient light very quickly. almost all of the indoor shots had to be done with a tripod and long exposures. I also did some HDR stuff as well to bring out a wider range of highs n lows. Pics 7-11, 14 and 15 were HDR work because the light was so low. |

Awesome pictures! If I knew I wouldn't be shot at in the area I live I would go hunt down the empty buildings a couple hours from my place. Not nearly as amazing as a sanitarium (as they were homes and warehouses), but they would still provide some fun pictures. I especially enjoy the 14th picture in your collection. |

Thanks Epsilon. It's forbidden to actually enter the grounds but people still do it anyway, hehe. It's kind of an attraction. I will go back one of these days. I will try to go in the summer or when the weather is a bit warmer. I went in December of last year and towards the end my hands were cold as fuck. I prefer to work bare handed and it's harder to work the camera with cold hands.
