Re: Beautiful Ireland
I've been to Ireland several times and stayed in many different counties, but the week I stayed in the heart of county Kerry was definately the the most beautiful one of them all, and even one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, in my top 3 actually. I stayed in a self-catering cottage in the Caha mountains, and the many walks I made when I stayed there are still very fondly remembered. Visiting the cliffs of Moher was also a very wonderfull though scary experience, especially the sight of several people walking all the way up to the edge of the 200 meter high vertical cliffs and leaning to see over the edge, it still makes my heart sink when I think about it On a different note, while staying in Kerry my dad and I walked to the top of a high hill while my mom stayed near the car to read a book. Just after we reached the top of the hill we could see someone driving across the same small, dirt road we came from, towards our car that was parked in a ditch. We could see the driver, a man, stepped out of the car and walked over towards my mother who he started talking to. For some reason I didn't trust it and so we started walking faster, back to the car. Even from a distance as we were walking back we noticed something strange was up. By the time my dad and I were almost back we could hear the man, an inbred creep, was bothering my mom. He telling her he loved her and how they we're going to marry and how she was going to live with him, obviously my mother was not feeling comfortable. When we approached them and the man noticed us he started talking again about how he and my mom were going to marry and live together, and that I could move in with them as well. My mom was clearly feeling even more uneasy as the creep didn't take any notice of the fact my mother was already married to my father who was standing next to them and we were in the middle of nowhere with some inbred mountain man who was professing to me and my dad how he and my mom were in love. The movie "Deliverance" was definately something we were thinking about at that time. The situation clearly could have gone very sour, as it was obvious the guy was nuts and might just as well have pulled out a shotgun and made shure he had no "competition" for my mom. Fortunately we managed to get into the car and get away from him without any serious trouble, but the fact that we we're in the middle of nowhere with a clearly deranged guy was not something we'd soon forget. |
