we also over fish the fuck outta our coasts and rivers. for example, my state used to have a flowing river going through it (the Columbia river) where huge king salmon would migrate and spawn every season. there are black and white pics you can find locally of people with tons of salmon, all of them huge. now days, the river is more of a lake. they put dams in, so salmon cant move as freely (they very rarely....like, almost never, make it up this far north anymore) and the dams ended up leaking so much shit into our water, you cant eat the fish in some parts (including where i live).  Washington state record for a Bocaccio (a rockfish similar to the bass in the pic) is 23.63 lbs and hasnt been broken since '87 (likely wont be for awhile if ever). |

breaks my heart too, man. i love this area....and it kills me coming to terms with the reality that the fishing that used to be here when i was a kid wasnt shit compared to decades before that and is far better than now. it's sad shit...... |
