Ballistic Missiles of the Third Reich, Hitler's Last Hope: Wunderwaffe

In 1944, the defeat of Nazi Germany was already obvious. Hitler's last hope was Wunderwaffe "wonder-weapon", the newest military technology ahead of its time. Probably the most impressive success of the Reich engineers was the V-2 rocket (Vergeltungswaffe-2). Hitler sent his personal photographer Walter Frentzen to take photos on the underground military factory Dora, the place prisoners was putting together the very first missiles.

Re: Ballistic Missiles of the Third Reich, Hitler's Last Hope: Wunderwaffe

At least 20.000 prisoners died at concentration camp "Mittelbau Dora", where the "Vergeltungswaffe 2" (Vergeltung=vengeance) was put together. Hitler's admired architect Albert Speer was responsible for the "Third Reich"s war economy at that time. In the Nuremberg Trials, he could successfully pretend that he only was an architect and did not know anything about the Holocaust or the treatment of war prisoners. He stylized himself as a misguided artist and so could avoid the death penalty for himself. He only got 20 years in prison. In the years after the trials he was considered to be the "nice nazi" and also appreciated as a blue print for all the Germans that claimed to have known nothing of the Holocaust. He became notorious for the phrase: "I would have sold my soul for a great building. I had found my Mephisto (Hitler) eventually. He didn't seem to be less charming than Goethes Mephisto (Faust)". His responsibility for the "Third Reich"s late-war economy was uncovered in the last years.

Good post btw

I've never heard anything about these either... so if they were never used where are they now?
