Both of these were taken in my back yard. The skunks have made a home underneath my hot tub that is outside.

Mr. Possum was just looking for some dry cat food to eat!!!

Awwwwww!! We don't have skunks in my yard, but we do have possums!! The possums carry all their babies on their backs...so cute!

Are the skunks tame?

I would not say tame but they have def. lost their fear of humans. They will not scamper away if I go out there..I carry a squirt gun with water and vinegar ...set it to stream...and spray them with it. That usually gets the job done. :) One of them sprayed something back in June...and when it sprayed..it was under my house.

: My house reeked of this stench ...smelled like burnt rubber, garlic and rotten eggs for days and days.

I called animal control to see about trapping them and release them elsewhere. According to them, in the state of Virginia...all skunks will be destroyed if they are trapped. I know they are skunks ...I know that they stink...but I also know that they are just being skunks and doing what skunks do. I know, I know...call me crazy but I just don't have the heart to kill them.

I wouldn't either. My friend has a skunk named Jasper. She has had him since he was a baby. He is so awesome!! Like a big fat cat! No scent glands, so he won't spray. He uses the litter box! So spoiled!!

Here is my friend's skunk, Jasper.
This was my son with Jasper a few years ago!!

In the one pic, she was handing him a cookie and in the other one he looks crazed as he is holding and eating the cookie!
