In Odessa Dolphinarium during a presentation a dolphin gave birth to a baby. This event was videotaped.

The audience could see one of the dolphins — — repulsed by others, just floating in the pool, instead of having to perform a normal program.

Suddenly the water around her a dark spot appeared and immediately next the newborn shoots out.

Dolphins are born tail first so as not to choke. After the appearance of the dolphin the mother breaks the umbilical cord and then immediately goes back to her little one to raise it to the surface for making its first breath.

In the first few months the mother will not depart from the newborn. The voice of the baby is thin and shrill. When (s)he’s hungry, it's “crying” just like a human child.

Also female Dolphins help each other during difficult births. Other members of the pack, including males, surround the mother during birth to protect her from predators.
