One other point worth knowing......the ball turret gunners on the B-24 could not put their parachute on when they were in the turret. If they had to jump, the parachute was tied to them by a cord. They had to don the chute AFTER they had jumped from the aircraft. Talk about some big balls on these guys. How fast you could put it on would determine whether you lived or died. This aircraft is at such low level, I'm sure the ball turret gunner died. Probably most of the other crew as well.

This picture is in the public domain, not sure why you would purchase it ? And according to the National museum of the US Air Force (who own the picture), it is taken over Germany, not Italy :-)
