Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights

Auroras, sometimes called the northern and southern (polar) lights or aurorae (singular: aurora), are natural light displays in the sky, usually observed at night, particularly in the polar regions. They typically occur in the ionosphere. They are also referred to as polar auroras.

The ones below were taken in Iceland

Re: Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights

One of the things I want to see before I die.

I don't even care if I bring a camera or not.

Excellent post.

Re: Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights

Really nice long exposures on those. The video is still my favorite part of this thread but it's nice to know I just have to travel about two days north to see the Northern Lights, and hire a guide and buy equipment and make sure I go there at the right time..

Someday.

You live to please. Thanks man, that is beautiful. I packed a bowl just to watch it.

I love the waves, just absolutely gorgeous. The color and the motions. Kind of looks like strands of kelp waving in the water, although electric green kelp at that.
