i used to walk past the 'no ball games children' one all the time.....these days his artworks are covered with protective perspex to stop anyone tagging or defacing them, and people will pull down walls to sell his paintings for huge amounts to stupid celebrities...

nice thread mate... the white house with the red lines and the cat is over in liverpool,,, seen it lots,,, i also know of a few more that arnt listed here... also there was one on Wavertree high street,,,,, just outside a new housing development... a flower growing out of a steaming pile of shit haha ,, i think someone went up and cut it off the wall to sell on Ebay!!!

that's exactly it....the whole concept of street art is that it comes and goes and.....now they preserve it for huge amounts of money, hide the art away in some collection and the impact and meaning is lost.....dumb fucks

I can't imagine the art evoking the same feelings if it was removed from the original location where it was formed.. so much of Banksys work is in context of the environment that it's presented in. Maybe with the exception of the big cut along the dotted line box.. I'm not for removing it, but a piece of cut out concrete wall with a raggedly sawn dotted line would be one hell of a piece to have. |
