Wasps/Hornets have the most unfriendly, meanest faces in the insect kingdom. Those motherfuckers look like they wanna kill your whole family. The last picture, the one with the spider, looks like it was drawn by Pixar. It looks like it's smiling! |

Re: Amazing Macro Photography
beautiful pictures! to think of how brutal it would be to live life that small...everything is a predator, practically, at that size. these pictures do a great job of juxtaposing the brutality of that life with the beauty of the creatures that live it. |

Re: Amazing Macro Photography
you should see what they do to other insects... they are brutal fuckers! some have a toxin that will paralyze a prey insect but keep it alive... they they take the paralyzed insects and lock them in chambers with wasp larva, so the larva can eat them alive. horrifying if you're the prey.... some are parasitic and will lay eggs in a host, only to have their young eat it alive. amazingly awesome but nasty little things. |

Re: Amazing Macro Photography
Yeah I've seen that. Quite disturbing actually. I've seen them lay eggs in caterpillars, and then when they pupate, they are eaten inside out. A lot of wasps and flies seem to do that. Check out the Japanese giant hornet. I've seen those evil fucks kill a whole colony of bees. It only takes like 30 of them to wipe out a hive with hundreds of bees. |
