Abandoned Textile Factory

Abandoned Silk Mill in Lonaconing, Maryland.

The factory closed unexpectedly in 1957 and remains preserved to this day. The workers left one Friday and never returned, leaving many of their personal belongings behind.
Man pictured unrolling a roll of fabric is part of photography team.

Re: Abandoned Textile Factory

cool pics, worth a visit
Though this old mill was “abandoned” by it’s original owners, it is definitely not abandoned by Herb Crawford, it’s owner and caretaker.

Herb is working very hard to maintain the mill.

He installed security measures to keep out the looters and vandals.
He gives tours around the only intact silk mill in the U.S for $100.
Now the mill needs a new roof.

Re: Abandoned Textile Factory

A gold mine. Silk textiles that are new antiques not used can go for a lot of money.
