Stonewall Jackson Reform School Location: Concord, North Carolina Area: Original 290 acres - Present time - 88 acres. Built: 1909 Architect: Asbury, Louis H. Architectural style: Colonial Revival Governing body: State Established to provide a place for troubled youths separate from adult prisoners, this was considered a progressive institution. Its founding was the result of twenty years of organizing by white women's groups in North Carolina. They lobbied for construction of a reformatory for white boys as part of prison reform. |

Looks unusually clean and free of vandalism. Is it on the same property with buildings still in use? The floors and all are so clean it looks like the buildings may still receive some care, if only keeping the vandals out. No broken windows...no grafitti...
