Great pics, FunkPumpkin! I was there in October of last year. A very cool place to visit. I found Ray's Hill to be in much better shape than Sideling Hill. Seems water damage impacted the interior of Sideling Hill a bit more, causing much more corrosion to the exhaust system and interior stairwell. Anyhow, I got a little bit adventurous and went in the upper service tunnel in Ray's Hill. Pitch black, of course. It starts out spacious enough, but as you travel east through tunnel, you eventually find yourself kneeling as everything begins to narrow around you. It was a little disconcerting. I found the little guy in the picture, there. I was kinda glad he was a loner. He didn't seem to mind our presence, though, and never budged and inch. Oh, the last picture is me sitting on the ledge of eastern end of Sideling Hill. Yah, that's a hell of a drop and a relatively-narrow ledge...and yah, I'm an asshat. Made for a cool picture, though. |
