All the young girls that passed through it's halls.

Wondering what they would be when they grew up, squabbling & fighting, insecure, dreaming of getting married someday, giggling, some being a bit boy crazy, happy/unhappy, struggling, carefree, succeeding, failing, exhilarated, broken hearted, hopeful, fearful, unworried, etc.

All of that left behind and all of them long dead by now.
