Re: 8 Year Old Murderer Confesses
THIS JUST IN...IN 2010 from CNN! A 10-year-old Arizona boy who admitted to shooting and killing his father and another man in 2008 was sentenced Thursday to "in-patient treatment" that could go on for several years, according to the prosecutor. The boy pleaded guilty in February to one count of negligent homicide in exchange for a plea deal that dropped the two counts of murder he was charged with initially. The boy was accused of killing his father, Vincent Romero, 29, and Tim Romans, 39, who rented a room in Romero's home in St. Johns, Arizona. Both men were found dead at the home November 5, 2008, and police said the next day that the boy confessed to shooting them with a .22-caliber rifle. At the time, the boy was 8. "Under the plea agreement, he can be in treatment up until he is 18," Apache County, Arizona, Attorney Michael Whiting said after the sentencing. "We hope that the treatment won't take that long. Obviously, it's not going to be successful if he is there when he is 18, and they are still treating him." Whiting did not specifically describe what type of treatment the boy will undergo, beyond saying a psychiatrist will be involved and that the youth will be kept at his treatment facility with no ability to leave. The judge in the case ordered follow-up evaluations of the boy every two and a half years to update court officials on his progress. Defense attorney Ron Wood said the boy was upset and crying in court during the sentencing and, "He was frightened." The boy apologized and "accepted responsibility for what he did," Wood said. During a news conference after the sentencing, Wood was asked how confident he is the treatment will work for his client. "I don't know, ask me in three years. Ask me when he's been through the process of having his brain picked...then maybe we will find out," Wood said. Asked the same question, Whiting replied, "50-50...I would bet it's going to be a tough road." Earlier, Whiting said, "There is not a question of who committed this crime. The question becomes, how does society and the court system deal with this crime." Why didn't anyone that made comments about this story do just a tiny bit of research? All that bloviateing and opion...on something that was decided four years ago? Geez. |

Re: 8 Year Old Murderer Confesses
OH WAIT...THERE'S ANOTHER BREAK IN THE CASE...FROM 2012! Ofcr to revoke 12 Year Old killer's probation USA TODAY 3/27/2012 An Arizona probation officer has moved to revoke the probation of a 12-year-old St. Johns, Ariz., boy who killed his father four years ago, alleging that the child has repeatedly threatened staffers and damaged property at a treatment center in Phoenix. Christian Romero was 8 when he shot his father, Vincent Romero, and family friend Timothy Romans, with a .22 rifle. As the youngest defendant ever in Arizona, his case became tangled in legal questions about competency to stand trial, and about where he would be placed upon conviction. After 14 months of negotiations, Christian pleaded guilty to the negligent homicide of his dad and was sentenced to indefinite time in residential care, with probation until age 18. A petition filed last week by Apache County juvenile probation officer Michael O'Brien says the boy engaged in a series of violent and threatening incidents over the past three months. While simulating a handgun, Christian allegedly talked of shooting his therapist at the Youth Development Institute, a private, not-for-profit facility in central Phoenix. He also is accused of shoving the therapist against a wall, threatening to kill a roommate, destroying property, and running away. Christian Romero has no defense attorney, and his guardian ad litem could not be reached for comment. In the revocation petition, O'Brien asked the Apache County Juvenile Court to place Christian in an unspecified facility that serves "the child's welfare and the best interests of the state." County Attorney Michael Whiting subsequently filed a motion to vacate the petition. However, Whiting said Monday that that move was procedural, and his office intends to pursue the revocation of probation once technical issues are resolved. The shooting occurred in November 2008 at the Romero family's home in rural eastern Arizona. Prosecutors said the boy plotted and carried out an ambush after arriving home from school. |

It too late to fall for this ham handed Leftist ploy. You're better than that. Try again please. In this case...if it weren't a gun it would have been a knife, or a rock, or a pipe, etc. the kid's a nut job. |

Re: 8 Year Old Murderer Confesses
Think what you will, I've seen kid's, women, halfwits, and retards deal some pretty serious damage and death to grown men. It's not the gun in this case...it's the child. He's a nut...not much can be done with or for someone like that. By the way...in case no one has told you yet...anti-gunners are the minority in America. Like it or not gun control just doesn't seem to have worked as advertised. I'm not going to belabor the point in spite of you baiting me at every turn. After thirty years as a cop...I know first hand that gun control is a buch of socialist big government BS. |

Re: 8 Year Old Murderer Confesses
Whilst having no gun at hand would have made the job harder for this kid, it doesn't change the fact that it's the kid who is fucked in the head, not the gun. Frankly, this is one time where a gun would be useful. Put against head of said kid, pull trigger, problem solved. |
