At least with solar power, maintenance is a couple of orders of magnitude simpler than with those wind behemoths. The problem is, we really need cheap battery storage for the energy so that we've got use for it at night. Right now, it's very inefficient. That said, I still have solar panels.

Wind power is an interesting technology but it has its draw backs. These things can be noisy, not just in terms of decibels but annoying winding sound. It also is sort of dangerous to have large propellers 200 feet in the air next to houses and businesses (tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes). And yes the animal people will talk about the birds that are killed. That's why wind turbines belong away from homes and isolated. It is good for,the environment but only should be used in areas away from people. Solar on the other hand fits very well with homes and businesses. |
