Re: 11-year-old Ran Away So She Wouldn't Have to Get Married
What an extraordinary brave and beautiful little girl. So courageous to stand up for her right to quality of life. Thankfully she has a compassionate uncle to care for her & shield her from a pedophile hiding behind the name of marriage. And her parents selling her off to the highest bidder , so sad. Seems the uncle would get the $ anyway for his part in raising her. Sick business. Also, someone mentioned hating Islam. We are not too far removed from this practice here in the USA. In pioneer days, children were routinely married off at 13,14 years of age with the parents collecting a dowry from the suitor. If a young woman was not married by 20 she was in danger of being an old maid. Even in the 70's some women were married at a very young age. I know of one woman who was married at the age of 13. |
