Victims of the Westgate Shopping Centre Massacre
The Westgate shopping mall attack, was an act of terrorism that occurred on September 21, 2013, in Nairobi, Kenya. The attack was carried out by militants from the Somali Islamist group al-Shabaab and resulted in the deaths of 67 people, with over 175 others injured. The Westgate Mall, a popular destination for Kenyans and expatriates alike, became the scene of a four-day siege, representing one of the most severe terrorist incidents in Kenya's history. The assault began midday when gunmen armed with automatic weapons and grenades stormed the mall, indiscriminately shooting shoppers and staff. The militants took many hostages, leading to a protracted standoff with Kenyan security forces. The siege lasted until September 24, with intermittent gunfire and explosions heard as security forces attempted to retake the mall and rescue hostages. There's nothing "radical" about this within Islam, if you had one fucking iota of knowledge about the nature of Islam and the way it's been spread over the last 1,000 years. You can get millions of Muslims in the streets over a cartoon, but you barely hear a peep about this. |
