Authorities have identified the gunman involved in Saturday’s attack on former U.S. President Donald Trump as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was fatally shot by Secret Service agents at the scene.

In a statement released early Sunday, the FBI confirmed Crooks, a resident of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, about 35 miles south of Butler, where Trump’s rally took place.

Law enforcement officials said Crooks opened fire on Trump from a rooftop just outside the event’s security perimeter before Secret Service agents killed him.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with bystanders attempting to assist those wounded and struggling to navigate through the crowded area.

The attack left one person dead and two others critically injured, authorities said. Trump, who was struck in the upper part of his ear, said on social media that he was otherwise unharmed. His campaign confirmed he returned to Newark, New Jersey, late Saturday night.

Even the mainstream folks are picking up on Crooks' name. With (allegedly) confirmation from the official agencies involved in the situation.

My issue is they all say the FBI confirmed, but do you really think they would shoot out confirmation via a text or email to some reporters and not hold a press conference with pictures and background information? Plus this Yearick guy looks identical to the dead shooter whereas crooks does not. Imo.

Pictures and background information would make more sense if the shooter was at large, but they got him right away. There's been more and more of a trend of not making huge show out of the shooter because that's what a lot of them ultimately want - fame.

Yearick has a lot more beard real-estate on that chin. Where are seeing a picture of Crooks? I know there's a fake one going around of a twitter user trolling people that got RT'd a lot.
