Amedy Coulibaly, an Islamist terrorist, was killed by French police on January 9, 2015, during a hostage crisis at a kosher supermarket in Paris. This event was part of a series of Islamist terrorist attacks that shook the city in January 2015. Coulibaly, born on February 27, 1982, in Juvisy-sur-Orge, France, was 32 years old at the time of his death.

The hostage crisis at the Hypercacher kosher supermarket in the Porte de Vincennes area of Paris began when Coulibaly entered the store and took several people hostage. He killed four of the hostages before police stormed the supermarket. The siege ended with Coulibaly being shot and killed by police.

Coulibaly's attack was linked to the Charlie Hebdo shooting that had occurred just two days earlier, where two gunmen, Said and Chérif Kouachi, attacked the offices of the satirical newspaper, killing 12 people. Coulibaly was a known associate of the Kouachi brothers and claimed allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
