Re: Rosewood Florida Massacre Death Pictures
*AHEM* Excuse me. I mean things aren't like that HERE in Texas where I live. Apparently, in whatever part of "Amuricuh" (as you so gracefully put it in your profile) you're in, there are minorities still getting lynched and burned in the streets by mobs. I'm well aware that things like this STILL go on in other parts of the world but NOT in my neighborhood. THAT was my point fuck face. I guess I should have been more specific for you.....fuckin dunce. |

Re: Rosewood Florida Massacre Death Pictures
"When [Harper] Lee (writer of TKAM) was 10 years old, a white woman near Monroeville, Alabama accused a black man named Walter Lett of raping her. The story and the trial were covered by her father's newspaper which reported that Lett was convicted and sentenced to death. After a series of letters appeared claiming Lett had been falsely accused, his sentence was commuted to life in prison. He died there of tuberculosis in 1937."

Re: Rosewood Florida Massacre Death Pictures
Rosewood is about 3 hours North from me. Worth the ride as the area & history are very interesting. I believe the shopkeeper's home where he hid the people is still standing. Close by is a small, funky little coastal community of Cedar Creek. Years prior to the Rosewood settlement, a man named Faber came to town. Being a natural entrepreneur, he devised a use for all the cedar trees there in the area. That would be the "#2 Faber" pencils we all have used at one time or another. Eventually (even today) the area is devoid of any cedar trees, although the name remains. Neat little artistic, funky community with homes built right on the canals. Pic #1 is Rosewood and #2 & 3 are Cedar Creek.
