Many of the jumpers landed far away from the tower, then you have the ones that just fell out. Smoke got to their eyes and mouth, not to mention the heat.

Yeah, he couldn't have gone more than 330 feet; he'd have to have been moving horizontally about 30 feet per second, not doable.

But from the South Tower, that would not have been a problem to reach that.

Mr Gentul, who has since remarried, is not convinced she took that option but is clearly irked that some believe jumping was some sort of cop-out.
‘She was a very practical person who would have done whatever she could to survive,’ he explains in a quiet voice. ‘But how can anyone know what one would do in a situation like that, having to choose how you go from this Earth?’
The notion that she jumped is, indeed, consoling to Mr Gentul in some ways, in that she exercised an element of control over her death.

Some managed to jump pretty far, the one that made it to the church parking lot took a running go and launched himself out the window and made it quite a ways away. I'm guessing 100 (?) feet ? They could not have made 330 feet though, at least I don't think they could. I have been wrong before though.

I still don't understand why people have such an issue the fact people Jumped.

If my Father was in those towers or something and they said he may of jumped I'd say "Yeah, probably. He sounded pretty bad on the phone and I'm at least grateful to know how he went out and that I'll have something to put in the casket."

I wouldn't try to deny it. I know some people are motivated by religion to discredit the Jumpers but I still think its ridiculous.

To be honest, I can't see why the cause of death is such an issue for some people. Whatever happened for being responsible for yourself? If you're in a blazing inferno, you should at least decide how you want to end it- no dignity should be removed from anyone who had to make the choice.

Agree 100% and like Bill said earlier most hung on as long as they could. It's like being put in an oven and there is fresh air on the other side, it doesn't matter if your 10 feet in the air or over 1,000 your going to jump.

I can not figure it out either guys. I have come across some very dumbass remarks over the years concerning the jumpers. One that still pisses me off to this day is some dumb fuckers that said the jumper's families should have charges brought against them because the jumpers were selfish assholes that put innocent people on the ground in danger just because they did not want to die in a fire.

They seem to forget that the people that jumped or fell were innocent themselves. I do not think you have much control over it when the are flames licking at your backside, you will go out that window regardless of weither it is 10 feet, or 1000 feet. That coment, and the ones about them being faked, or dummies with food coloring piss me the fuck off.

On a different note, I checked out the let's drool site, and the bitch that was calling me a liar has since disapeared. Wonder what that was about ?
